The Trainer System – Trainer for Braces Phase 1 (Ages 8–12)
The Trainer System™ is the original myofunctional orthodontic appliance range developed by MRC in the early 1990s. Still widely trusted by practitioners worldwide, it remains a leading solution for orthodontic, breathing, and myofunctional disorder support. While the system has evolved into the Myobrace® System, The Trainer System™ continues to provide a strong foundation for habit correction and early orthodontic intervention.
The Trainer for Braces (T4B) is designed specifically for children aged 8–12 years undergoing fixed braces treatment. While braces are effective for straightening teeth, they do not address the underlying causes of malocclusion such as mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, and incorrect swallowing patterns. If these habits are not corrected, treatment outcomes may be less stable and relapse can occur after braces are removed.
The T4B works alongside braces to improve treatment efficiency and comfort. It helps reduce pressure from the tongue, lips, and cheeks against orthodontic appliances, while also guiding correct oral posture and breathing habits. This supports improved stability during and after orthodontic treatment.
Importantly, the T4B is not a mouthguard. For sports protection, a Powrgard®4-Braces mouthguard should be used.
- Braces channels accommodate brackets and archwires while protecting cheeks and gums
- Tongue tag encourages correct tongue posture against the palate
- Tongue guard helps prevent tongue thrusting and supports nasal breathing
- Aerofoil base supports jaw development, helps open the bite, and assists TMJ decompression
By combining orthodontic alignment with myofunctional correction, the Trainer for Braces helps support more stable, efficient treatment outcomes during the mixed to permanent dentition phase.
