SUMMARY:Rationale for a successful fiber post & core working process
DESCRIPTION:In December 2020\, well known international speaker\, author and professor in endodontics\, Dr. Alejandro Bertoldi Hepburn from Buenos Aires\, Argentina presented a Live Webinar hosted by Ivodent. Fibre posts represent the best option among the contemporary endodontic posts. Although they offer several promising properties\, some limitations have to be noticed and understood in order to achieve better clinical results. This webinar describes those drawbacks and suggests different ways to overcome them. Based on scientific reports\, a protocol of four basic attitudes to achieve clinical success is proposed\, with different clinical cases described in photos and videos. \n[vc_video link=’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRmBS7G-_KI&t=85s’]

SUMMARY:Dr Mahony and Straight Talk - Two Day Event
DESCRIPTION:SUMMARY \n  \nThis lecture aims to discuss the fundamental objectives of early interceptive orthodontic treatment. Early interceptive treatment is orthodontic treatment performed in the early mixed dentition and before the establishment of the permanent dentition. Children as early as 7 years old can exhibit significant crowding\, severe dentofacial discrepancies\, and facial asymmetries. Patients that present with these problems are good candidates for early orthodontic/dentofacial orthopaedic evaluation and treatment. \n  \nYOUR LEARNING OUTCOMES \n  \n\nRecognize some fundamental objectives of early interceptive treatment.\nIdentify early interceptive orthodontic treatment plans.\nRealize some consequences of delaying interceptive treatment.\nRecognize some specific elements for normalization of the dentofacial components.\n\n  \nTOPICS \n  \n\nNormalization of skeletal dysplasias and asymmetries\nPromote appropriate jaw size to encourage the proper eruption of the permanent teeth\nDevelop optimum alveolar bone support and appropriate buccal root torque/angulation for permanent teeth\nRecognition of upper airway obstruction and establishment of upper airway patency\nImprovement of occlusal function\nIntervention and termination of recalcitrant habits (i.e.\, thumb and finger sucking)\nUtilization of future growth\nRecognition of excessive growth\, i.e. the mandible\n\n  \nDr. Derek Mahony is a Sydney based Specialist Orthodontist who has post graduate training in Dentofacial Orthopedics\, as well as post graduate training in Dental Sleep Medicine. \nHe has spoken to thousands of practitioners\, around the world\, on the benefits of Early Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment\, and what affect this can have on children’s facial development\, their sleep cycle\, and their airway.\nEarly in his career Dr. Mahony learned from leading clinicians the dramatic effect functional appliance therapy can afford patients in orthodontic treatment. \nHe has been combining the fixed and functional appliance approach ever since. His lectures are based on the positive impact such a combined treatment approach has had on his orthodontic results and the benefits this philosophy provides from a patient management perspective. \n  \n \nDr Brett Hawkins – Secretary NZDOS -Dr Brett Hawkins graduated from the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 1992 and started his career in Christchurch Hospital. Since 1995 he has practised dentistry in Auckland\, with his main interests being orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry.\n9.00am – Report on NZDA\, NZDC\, NZAO\, NZDOS Meetings. NZDOS Website Update \nDr Mike Black  – President NZDOS Dr Mike Black has been practicing in Auckland since 1984 after graduating from Otago University. He has always had a strong interest in orthodontics. He believes in the ‘Full Face Orthodontics” approach and treating the cause\, not just the symptom of crooked teeth\, for a lifelong beautiful smile. Mike is the President of NZDOS as well as a member of the NZDA\, ADA\, and the IAO (International Association of Orthodontics).\n9.30am – Early Treatment. Have we harmed or helped? \nDr Vernon Kruger  -Dr Vernon Kruger graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1981 in South Africa.
